We are in Tuscany, without a doubt a rich area. The civilization of the Etruscans flourished in this fertile region; they later shaped Roman culture. It was also the place to be in the Renaissance; with numerous authentic buildings and art from that period, the region is really worth a visit.
Florence or Florence
Florence was the capital of the Renaissance and for that reason alone you must have been there. The Duomo of the Santa Maria del Fiore, for example, not only looks impressive, but that megalomaniac feeling only reaches higher levels when you outline it in its overall picture: the many churches, bridges, squares and palaces really surprise you time and time again.
Pisa
It should of course not be missing. The famous leaning tower, where Galileo once demonstrated the operation of a telescope, must be seen. It is a real tourist attraction, but afterwards you can enjoy the peace again at the campsite.

The villages were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. The area is difficult to reach by car along the steep coast. There is a walking path that connects the five villages: the Via dell´Amore. The villages are also connected by a railway line that is part of the main line La Spezia-Genoa.
